About MicrobeSeq

In 2023, the Department of Bacteria, Parasites and Fungi (BPS) at the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) received a grant from the European Union's "EU4Health" programme. This initiative has been extended to 21 EU/EEA countries and aims at strengthening Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) capabilities across Europe with a specific focus on enhancing both the analytical phase and the data-sharing phase.

Entitled "MicrobeSeq-Denmark" within SSI, the project will run over a three-year period.
MicrobeSeq-Denmark aims to streamlining laboratory protocols, modernizing IT systems, and developing robust data-sharing policies and agreements. In addition, knowledge exchange efforts are underway to ensure the applicability of the MicrobeSeq project for all Danish Departments of Clinical Microbiology.
More than 50 professionals from various sections and departments at SSI are actively engaged in driving the MicrobeSeq project forward.
