Modernization and Standardization

Modernization of the sample flow ensures that SSI’s WGS and PCR/RT-PCR laboratory processes are well managed. A set of modern protocols will be developed and shared publicly. This work will encourage accreditation on an institutional level and standardization on a national level. In addition, a quality panel of selected pathogens will be made available to all Danish Departments of Clinical Microbiology, to encourage comparable capabilities at a national level.

This work package will facilitate:

1. Modernization and standardization of protocol structure and pilot the use of a shared platform for storage and upkeep (protocols.io)
2. Implementation of a WGS LIMS system for automatically managing WGS samples from reception at the sequencing core facility at SSI till sequencing, quality control, and data delivery
3. Development of a standardized test panel of pathogens to be run routinely for quality assurance
